The competition sees all Electric stylists enter one of the six categories, including: Men’s, Stylist/Editorial, Avant Garde, Colour Genius, First Year Assistant and Senior Assistant.
Participating stylists were set the challenge of showcasing a complete model look, from hair and make-up to overall styling. Each competitor had to present live to the judging panel, made up of Electric Hair’s creative director, Mark Woolley, and the Electric Art Team. More than 65 people attended the event to support their colleagues, from session stylists to make-up artists and the rest of the Electric team.
The annual Electric competition aims to help continue building and inspiring Electric Hair’s talented and creative team and recognising and awarding industry talent, with the philosophy that ‘Education is Everything’.
Woolley commented: “Competitions are something that I think are essential in the progression of a hairdresser’s career because every time you showcase your work at its best it makes you a better hairdresser. Doing it live is more important because, unlike session styling, there is no room for retouching once you are finished”.
The finalists’ award ceremony will take place at a champagne reception this spring, with winners from each category awarded with a bespoke Electric trophy.
