Essie has announced the appointment of fashion designer, Rebecca Minkoff, as its new global color designer, a role that will see her bring her unique perspective to the brand’s on-trend vision and future colour direction.
The relationship between Essie and Minkoff first began at New York Fashion Week in 2012 where the two worked together to create chic and fashionable nail looks. The new appointment is the natural next step for the American nail brand that is looking to tap into Minkoff’s fashion expertise and modern eye for colour beyond the runway.
As Carolyn Holba, worldwide general manager of Essie, explained: “Rebecca exudes passion and she lives and breathes colour – as does Essie. We have so much in common and are excited to welcome her to the Essie family.”
The Spring 2015 Flowerista collection, the first of many to be created under Minkoff’s direction, will be available to retail worldwide from March.
Minkoff commented: “I have always had a lifelong passion for vibrant nail colour and nail art – they are the perfect accessory and offer every woman another unique way to express herself. I am thrilled to take my relationship with Essie one step further and look forward to a successful and colourful journey!”
Essie Weingarten remains as a consultant of the brand that she founded more than 33 years ago.
