The Eyelash Emporium Lash Festival is the eyelash extension competition that everyone wants to win. It’s the largest competition of its kind and accepts entrants from all over the world into its three categories: World Individual Lash Master, World Volume Lash Master and the Salon Magazine Lash Student of the Year.
This year’s Lash Festival was hotly contested by over 1200 entrants from 32 countries and with over 100,000 views and votes, it was twice the size of last year’s competition.
This is the first year that there has been a separate volume lash category, which reflects the rising popularity of this advanced technique. The winner of World Volume Lash Master 2015 was Viktoria Tarjan of Vicushka Lashes in Hungary closely followed by Alison Boho from the USA and Bobbi April McGeachin from Australia.
Viktoria Tarjan has only been applying eyelash extensions since 2012 but has trained extensively traveling across Europe to refine her skills and learn new techniques. She now works at Vicushka Lashes in downtown Budapest and her exclusive client base is thrilled that she has been chosen as World Volume Master. Twenty-five-year-old Alison Boho runs two Southern Belle salons in Plano, Texas and for the last three years has devoted herself to lashes and her young daughter. As a single mother she’s had to work hard, but now employs 10 technicians and is getting the recognition she deserves as a top therapist. She loves lashes and says that her mission is to empower Women with the confidence that beautiful eyelashes bring. Bobbi April has already achieved fame in the Lash Wars contest in Las Vegas where she also finished in the bronze medal place. She’s been a beauty therapist for seven years and started offering lash treatments four years ago while still a mobile technician. Within six months lashes made up 90 per cent of her turnover, allowing her to set up a salon in a beach house in beautiful Yanchep, Western Australia.
The individual eyelash extension category was just as competitive. The lead changed several times but the final victor was Karen Kirby, owner of Eyelashes by Karen in Malton, North Yorkshire. Karen’s client list is growing rapidly, fuelled by her passion to provide exceptional, damage free eyelash extensions. The quality of her work has already built a reputation that has allowed her to become a one to one trainer in her area – a reputation that can only be enhanced by being crowned World Individual Lash Master 2015. Karen is continually taking further education in up to date techniques and is constantly in touch with new products, looks and trends from round the world.
The Salon Magazine Lash Student of the Year category meanwhile was open to anyone that had first trained or qualified in 2014. The judges’ emphasis was on safe application, which is the foundation of a good treatment. The finalists were all of a high standard but the overall winner, Mette Hacke from Frederiksborg in Denmark, is a future star. Her work not only shows safe application but also demonstrates a good understanding of lash weight and structure and she is poised to become a great success in the thriving Danish lash scene.
The Eyelash Emporium Lash Festival has shown just how far eyelash extensions have come in the last few years. The stunning work on display is an inspiration that drives standards ever higher.
