Leading the fundraising for a local father, Hampshire stylist and salon owner Guy Kremer recently hosted a blow-dry bootcamp event as part of the ‘Do it for Alex’ campaign.
Supported by local Hampshire newspaper, the Southern Daily Echo, the campaign is raising money for Alex Lewis, who lost three limbs and his lips after a common cold left him in a coma when a blood infection forced his organs to fail. The funds raised will go towards his rehabilitation at a specialist unit in Roehampton.
The blow-dry bootcamp took place at Kramer’s Winchester salon and sought to teach local people professional skills in return for a £20 donation. Local celebrities including TV chef James Martin and footballer Jay Rodriguez also attended to show their support.
Local Hotel du Vin provided non-alcoholic cocktails and a pop-up florist was also on site to prepare bouquets, both of which donated all proceeds to the fund.
The event raised £15,000 , and there are more initiatives planned for the coming months.
