AI Is Dramatically Changing the Way Clients Choose Salons
Salon Guru has published its new Digital Marketing Trends Report for Hair Salons 2026, highlighting a major shift in the way people search for salons, stylists and hair services online.
Based on analysis of 200+ salon websites and 4.6 million salon website visitors over a 12-month period, the report shows that clients are increasingly relying on Google, AI assistants and recommendation-based search tools to help them choose the right salon and the right stylist for them.
Phil Evans, Managing Director of Salon Guru – a specialist digital marketing agency working exclusively with hair, beauty and aesthetics businesses worldwide – says up to 58% of the UK and US population now use AI tools to search for businesses and services.
“Clients want reassurance before they book,” says Evans. “They want to see real hair transformations, read authentic reviews, find a stylist who specialises in the look they want, and secure an appointment quickly and easily. AI search tools are increasingly rewarding salons that provide that evidence clearly.”
The report argues that real experience is becoming one of the strongest ranking and recommendation signals. Original salon photography, verified reviews, detailed service pages and clear booking journeys help both clients and AI systems understand what a salon genuinely does well.
It also warns that many salons are still focusing heavily on social media visibility while overlooking the channels that generate the strongest booking intent.
