Aveda unveils plan to raise $4.5 million for Earth Month 2012

Aveda salons and stylists around the globe are preparing for April’s Earth Month 2012 to raise funds and awareness about the world’s water crisis. Now in its thirteenth year, the brand is aiming to raise $4.5 million for the campaign to protect clean water, which nearly 900 million people worldwide fight for every day. Key fundraisers include the profits made from sales of its Light the Way Earth Month Candle (RRP £16) and donations collected via its sponsored five-mile Aveda Walk for Water event, set to take place in numerous locations across the globe on 23 April.

Since 1999 the Aveda network  has raised more than $22 million to support organisations that directly affect environmental change while $16 million of this total has been earmarked for water- related causes. For the sixth consecutive year, the brand will partner with the Global Greengrants Fund to provide grants for community-based water projects in more than 40 countries.
