BLOG: The Importance of Awards by Brian Gallagher, salon owner of Gallagher & Horner

To be progressive and creative, at Gallagher & Horner we actively encourage our team at all levels to participate in our artistic team. Together we study trends and focus on emerging looks.

Our team is fortunate in being able to participate in London Fashion Week, so twice a year we are able to anticipate fashion trends based on the emerging seasonal trends. As a result, we produce an annual photographic collection that we submit to the British Hairdressing Awards.

Entering any awards is an amazing team building opportunity as everyone in the salon attends meetings where you can brainstorm ideas together, look at mood boards and put your own spin on how you envision the future of the salon.

At Gallagher & Horner, we are building a brand with our imagery that is synonymous with luxe-wearable and attainable hair, but which also showcases our creative strengths in cutting, colouring and styling hair.

It is vital in this competitive industry to push our boundaries and with entering competitions; it raises a salon or individual’s public profile, resulting in respect from your peers.

Having won Scottish Hairdresser of the Year twice and being nominated again this year, it creates an incredible buzz in the salon with our staff but also with our clients

We make sure to maximise theses accolades by working closely with our PR agency to promote both locally, nationally and even internationally.

Winning an award – if promoted well – can generate an enormous amount of energy around your business that translates into new clients walking through your doors.

Challenge yourself and your salon team to think outside the box and strive for an identifiable look when entering photographic awards that encapsulate where you feel your brand is within the market place.

Financially it is a big investment but the rewards can be life changing for your business.
