Cardiff hairdresser and business owner, Mark Coray, has been crowned a Local Star by Groupon, in recognition of the success of his salon, Coray and Co.

The voucher company awarded Coray with the accolade for providing high-end hairdressings along with excellence in customer service and his dedication to supporting the local community through work experience and apprenticeship programmes.

The new accolade adds to an impressive collection of awards for the Welsh hairdresser, including twice-winner of British and International Ladies’ Hairdressing Champion as well as representing Team GB at the hairdressing Olympics in the 90s.

Coray, who boasts an impressive celebrity clientele including Charlotte Church, June Whitfield and Sian Lloyd, is passionate about offering work experience and apprenticeships to help overcome youth unemployment in his local area.

Roy Blanga, managing director of Groupon UK commented: “Our Local Stars campaign celebrates business owners that go over and above to provide a fantastic service to their local community and really shine as individuals. We’ve been working closely with Mark at Coray & Co. for over four years and he has fantastic customer satisfaction scores. Through his talent he has built an admirable reputation in his field and is a popular local personality in the area.”

Commenting on the award, Coray said: “Staying true to my roots is very important to me – it’s why I set up my business on the same road I grew up on and trained in the local area. We have built a very strong partnership with Groupon and have been really impressed with how it has helped us significantly boost customer numbers and drive local awareness, while building a strong roster of celebrity clients. We are delighted to receive this award as recognition of our business success and ongoing community support. It means a great deal to the current team here who’ve been with me for over 12 years.”
