Cloud Nine Announce Winning Stylists for London Fashion Week Team!
After professional hair tools brand Cloud Nine launched their search for twelve talented hairdressers to join their London Fashion Week Styling Team, the entries started flooding in reminding us all why the UK is at among the top in the industry when it comes to hair. With a prestigious place creating the catwalk looks for Australian Fashion House sass & bide on the line, it was down to Cloud Nine UK Salon Director Ben Waring as well as judges made up from award-winning Leigh Keates (Josh Wood Atelier), Bree Davie (part of the Trevor Sorbie Art Team) and session stylist Angel Montague Sayers to cut the talent down to just twelve.
So, last week saw the panel of four head down to the super trendy Hoxton Hotel armed with the gorgeous imagery, in-depth inspirations and styling CVs of the entrants, which came from as far a field as Italy, Russia and Ukraine. On the hunt for stylists that were huge ambassadors of Cloud Nine and had researched into previous sass & bide shows to understand and encompass the brand’s style and look, the judges described the ‘brilliantly executed’ winning entries as being ‘clean and detailed’ with some ‘strong textures’ and ‘bags of enthusiasm’. The award-winning panel were particularly impressed with those that had included in their entries the regular use of detailed plaits and braids that have become something of a signature on the sass & bide catwalks.
After a hard days decision-making and several stages of elimination, the final twelve stylists that will make up the Cloud Nine London Fashion Week Styling Team are (in no particular order):
- Melanie Jefferson – SaVvy Salon, Cumbria
- James Earnshaw – Francesco Group, Birmingham
- Simon Tuckwell – Sutherland & Barnett, Nottingham
- Danny Murray – Murray & Murray Hair, Rochdale
- Casey Coleman – Ocean Hairdressing, Cardiff
- Alex Gardiner – Escapades Salon, Moira
- Anna McArdle – Michael Van Clarke, London
- Ky Wilson – Daniel Gray salon, Kendal
- Ferne Baker – Sally Montague, Derby
- Jayne Alison – De Lacy Spa, Hull
- Nicola Richards – West Row Hairdressing, Wetherby
- Sarah Chambers – Nicholas Graham Concept Salon, Northern Ireland
The twelve lucky winners will now join judges and seasoned stylists Leigh Keates, Bree Davie and Angel Montague Sayers, to form the Cloud Nine Styling Team, headed up by Cloud Nine Australia Creative Director Renya Xydis. The finalists will see their creations strut down the sass & bide runway on Friday 14th September, signifying the first day in London Fashion Week.
Ben Waring, Cloud Nine UK Salon Director was amazed by the talent, stating:
‘We were bowled over by the number of entries to join the Cloud Nine London Fashion Week Styling Team and judging was no easy task! The aim was to find well-rounded stylists who had mastered the use of the Cloud Nine tools and demonstrated a flair for high-end catwalk looks with great trend-led finishes and I think we’ve done just that. The final 12 will have the opportunity to showcase their skills on the sass & bide runway for all to see and we plan on creating a show-stopping start to the prestigious week.’
