Ego’s top ten fundraising ideas for National Blow Dry Day

National Blow Dry Day is returning this 28 July for its second year of teaching women across the UK how to create extraordinary hair, every day.
Pioneered by Ego Professional, Bring Back the Blow Dry is a national campaign created to raise support and awareness to women all over the country who are in need of some self-styling education. On 28 July, Ego will host a pop-up salon at Waterloo train station offering complimentary style fixes and quick style tips, with all proceeds and donations made donated to Macmillan Cancer Support.
Salons across the country are also encouraged to get involved and celebrate National Blow Dry Day with the rest of the industry. Here, Ego offers its top ten fundraising ideas to get your team and clients involved and raise some vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
- Blow-dry tips
Consider holding a blow-dry tips day for clients, or donate a percentage of all blow-dries throughout July. - Client competition
Launch a salon, Facebook or Twitter competition to give away a blow-dry. Don’t forget to use the hashtag #nationalblowdryday. - Hairdressers are superheroes
Dress up as your favourite superhero for the day and encourage clients to donate. - Just a donation
Ask clients to either round their bill up, add £1 to their bill or complimentary donations. - Bubbles and blow-dry
Invest in your best customers to a ‘bubbles and blow-dry’ evening, host a raffle to raise money. - Just two more hours
Open late for two hours one evening and offer a free blow-dry in return for a donation to Macmillan. - Everyone loves cake
Host a cake sale in your salon. Ask your team to bring in cakes (homemade or shop brought!) and all donations go to Macmillan. - You’ll never guess
Guess the number of kirby grips in the jar. Fill a large jar with kirby grips and charge everyone £1 to enter. The person who guesses the nearest number wins a cut and blow-dry. - Caption Competition
Get a photo of a well-known person, such as your lead stylist, doing something they wouldn’t normally do. Photocopy the picture onto an A4 sheet and hold a competition asking people to write the funniest caption for it. Elect judges for the competition and winner receives a free cut and/or blowdry. £1 donation per each entry. - Here’s a tip
Ask clients to text any tips to NBDD77 with either £2, £5 or £10 to 70070 and donate.
