From hairdresser to businesswoman: Miss Lady Lox launches luxury hair extension collection
Budding entrepreneur, Kelly Muirhead, is the founder of Miss Lady Lox presents… My New Hair, a new brand of luxury, bespoke hair extensions and one-of-a-kind products for salons.
Muirhead launched the range after she spotted a gap in the market for premium, natural, quality extensions. The result of her entrepreneurial journey is a range of first class Slavic extensions that are double drawn, hand tied with a double-layered micro weft to give a natural, full head of hair. They are 100 per cent Fair Trade and can be clipped or sewn in so that they are easily removable.
With a string of big name salons and hair stockists already supplying the extensions, Muirhead hopes that My New Hair will become the go-to brand for hairdressers across the country.
Muirhead, who has 16 years of hairdressing experience, said: “Throughout my career, I’ve come across some amazing extensions that are beautifully made and easily fitted. However, I’ve also had clients who’ve had awful experiences with poorly made, low quality extensions and their hair has suffered as a consequence.
“I decided I wanted to create my own bespoke collection of extensions that women could rely on. The feedback from hairdressers and clients has been amazing and we’re adding the new range to more salons and stockists all the time.”
The extensions have been designed with the end user in mind, with Kelly personally creating some bespoke touches – such as a double and triple layered weft that gives the hair thickness. The top layer of hair on each extension is double layered while the bottom one is triple layered; a feature that is exclusive to My New Hair.
Hair is treated with the utmost care to prolong its life. It is coloured over ten days, using a thermo heat system, allowing hair to remain soft with no damage to its structure or the hair shaft. This allows moisture to remain in the hair strand and stops it from drying hair out, leaving it soft, shiny and natural looking.
In addition to her exclusive range of extensions, Muirhead has developed innovative products that are specifically designed to work with hair extensions, including a light, dry Citrus Oil, specially formulated to keep hair looking its best, with two more products to follow soon – a Conditioning Hair Milk Spray and a Back to New Silicone Spray.
Ranging in price from £18 to £20, the products are made from 100 per cent natural ingredients with zero added nasties. While all three are designed for hair that’s left the head, they can also be used on real hair too, to keep it strong, shiny and nourished.
A special Travel Bag has also been launched, which offers the perfect way to store extensions when on the move. The bag ensures that hair is kept straight, smooth and unknotted to increase its lifespan and help avoid static. It’s priced at £21.
