Happy Birthday Trevor Sorbie: industry icon turns 65 (and celebrates 50 years in hairdressing)
2014 marks a landmark year for Trevor Sorbie as the industry icon celebrates 50 years in hairdressing and his sixty-fifth birthday.
A pioneer in his industry, Sorbie was the first person to ever win British Hairdresser of the Year, as well as being the first hairdresser to be awarded an MBE from the Queen.
Famed for the iconic geometric looks he created while working under Vidal Sassoon in his early career, Sorbie has since created an empire of salons and world-famous products. Today he leads an artistic team that works on top international shoots and shows, and has mentored some of the modern industry’s best talent.
Looking forward there are no signs of slowing down as Sorbie continues to focus on his My New Hair charity, cutting wigs for cancer patients and campaigning for the cause in the hairdressing and medical industries.
An upcoming documentary from Exposurebox.tv, set to profile Sorbie and his remarkable career, is due to air at the end of 2014/early 2015.
