Multi-Award-Winning Stylist Chris Grimley Hosts Event to Spark Industry-Wide Shift Towards Textured Hair Awareness

Chris Grimley, textured hair specialist, educator, and owner of Fusion Hair Co and Textured Curl Academy, is on a mission to make textured hair education more inclusive and accessible. Through her work, she is changing the conversation around curls, coils, and waves, ensuring that all hair types are celebrated and understood within the industry. Her latest event, Platform Connect, was a shining example of this vision in action.

Held at Fusion Hair Co. Platform Connect brought together salon owners, stylists, and industry experts for a few hours of creativity, inspiration, and education. The event fostered new connections between local professionals, many of whom had never met despite only being a short distance from each other, highlighting the importance of community in pushing the industry forward.

The lineup featured some of the best in British hairdressing, including stylists Darrel Starkey, who showcased his expertise in wig work; Olivia Brady, who shared her knowledge on colour, and Ruby Watson, a rising talent mentored by Chris herself since leaving school, taking the stage for her first-ever platform session.
