Belfast super-stylist, Paul Stafford, has leant his hairdressing skills to a photographic exhibition celebrating some of Northern Ireland’s most respected women.

The 10 aspiring women were picked from all walks of life, from broadcasting to health to fashion, and were photographed by fashion photographer, Lee Mitchell.

“We wanted to celebrate these amazing women who have made their mark in Northern Ireland, but we also wanted to take ordinary women, reveal their natural beauty and, by doing so, demonstrate that beauty is not the preserve of the young or the thin,” said Stafford. “We show that they shine inside and out. We’ve got artists, medical specialists, designers, radio and TV presenters and a DJ, a real mix of Northern Irish talent.”

The collection, which is to be showcased in Northern Women magazine and Belfast Telegraph, will make up an exhibition that will launch Belfast’s annual Directory 15 style event. Run over three days in September, Directory 15 involves a series of unique, bespoke workshops with some of Northern Ireland’s best-known names in fashion, hair and make-up.

Stafford, who has won Northern Irish Hairdresser of the Year three times, is also lined up to host a masterclass at the event.

“Directory 15 is all about building self-esteem and celebrating who you are, not who you struggle to be,’ said Stafford. ‘And there will be some cracking workshops where participants watch those people, usually hidden behind the scenes preparing and dressing models, in action and can ask them directly for tips and advice.”
