RAINBOW ROOM INTERNATIONAL HOST POP UP SALON BACKSTAGE AT TRNSMT 2026 FOR THE NINTH YEAR

2026 marked TRNSMT’s ninth instalment, having taken place since 2019, except for 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Scotland’s largest salon group, Rainbow Room International, has been honoured to cut and style hair backstage for artists performing at the event since its inception.

Over the weekend, stylists and directors from across the Rainbow Room International salons were on hand at the backstage Artists Village in their own “pop-up salon” for artists and their management and crew teams, ensuring they looked their very best at the festival and ahead of performing on stage at Glasgow Green.

On Friday, the Rainbow Room International team consisted of Riccardo Corvi, Director at RRI’s Ayr salon, Heather Brad, Art Director at RRI Clarkston, and Miya Henderson, Stylist from RRI Howard Street. The team cut and styled hair for bands The K’s, Dylan John Thomas and Beluga Lagoon.

On Saturday, Director of RRI Royal Exchange Square, David Nicolson, was joined by Becca Jack, Art Director at Great Western Road, Hannah Bettany, Stylist at RRI Ayr, and Fabrizio Delvecchio, Stylist at RRI Howard Street. The team styled hair for an array of talent, including members of the bands English Teacher, The Fratellis and The Last Dinner Party, as well as singer-songwriter Poppy Baskcomb. The team was also joined by members of Amy Macdonald and Sonny Fodera’s crews.

On the final day of the weekend, Julie-Anne and Andrew Donaldson, Directors of RRI’s Crow Road salon, were joined by Brody Gibson, Master Hair Designer from RRI Clarkston, Megan Fyfe, Designer Stylist at East Kilbride, and Lily Lamb, Stylist at Great Western Road. The weekend ended on a high, with the team being joined backstage for hair appointments by singer Kerr Mercer, songstress Rubie Green and CMAT, alongside members of the teams of Lewis Capaldi and Skye Newman.

Throughout the weekend, hair trends included textured mullets and longer hairstyles for men, alongside cool disconnected cuts and undercuts, as well as voluminous updos and glossy waves and curls.

The weekend was sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional, which provided an array of hair styling products, allowing the team to style the artists’ hair to perfection. This was particularly important on Friday, when constant rain made hair frizzy and unmanageable, before the sun came out in full force on Saturday and Sunday. Artists were looking for hairstyles that were free from frizz, could withstand the humidity, last all day, and remain protected.
