REGIS UK STAFF STEPPED-UP FOR CHARITY WITH TEN MILE TREK IN SUPPORT OF GREAT ORMOND STREET HOSPITAL CHILDREN’S CHARITY
TEN MILE TREK KICKS OFF A WHOLE MONTH OF IN-SALON FUNDRAISING
On Sunday 29 September staff from hairdressing company Regis UK Ltd pounded the pavements, parks and pathways of West London to complete a ten mile trek to raise vital funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. The nationwide hairdressing outlet encompassing the Regis Salon, Supercuts, Sassoon and Hair & Beauty by Regis salon brands invited customers, suppliers, friends and families to join them for the challenge as part of their on-going mission to help boost funds for the charity.
The challenge saw more than 75 participants take off from Richmond across the Thames path, through Richmond Park and ending back in Richmond along the River Thames to raise money towards a new Respiratory Unit at the hospital.
The event kicked off a whole month of in-salon fundraising for Regis UK staff, who have planned a whole series of creative fundraising events including cake sales, wig days and raffles to help the charity’s HAIRraising appeal. Founded by hairdressing entrepreneur John Frieda in 2010, the HAIRraising appeal brings together the UK hairdressing industry to support Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. The appeal has already raised more than £1million towards a new operating theatre and now aims to raise £1m towards a new Respiratory Unit for the hospital.
The new Respiratory Unit will provide more space and privacy for families, including spacious bedrooms with en suites which will enable parents or carers to sleep by their child’s bedside overnight, and a high dependency unit will allow parents and carers to rest in comfort throughout the day and also provide ample space for medical equipment.
Jackie Lang, Managing Director, Regis UK said of the event: “It was wonderful to see so many of our staff, suppliers, friends and family come together in support of this fantastic charity”.
Laura Savory, Senior Fundraising Manager atGreat Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, said: “We’re very grateful to Regis for their support of the HAIRraising appeal. It was fantastic to see so many staff take part in the trek and we are looking forward to supporting all Regis UK staff with their fundraising efforts.”
