Rush International Artistic Team Present Inspirational Showcase at L’Oreal Elevate
The Rush International Artistic Team recently had the pleasure of showcasing their work to an enthusiastic audience from China. Setting the scene with a video that featured previous Rush collections which was followed by a catwalk presentation containing three very diverse looks all epitomising the Rush philosophy of Strength and Movement. As the models used the catwalk to show texture, precision cutting, colour and long hair work, the audience knew they were in for an exciting afternoon filled with creativity.
First on stage were Rush International Artistic Director, Andy Heasman who was joined by Jeremy Roca Ripoll, Rush Artistic Team Member who were taking the lead with their cutting section. Andy’s model had a short ash-blonde base colour to which Rush Artistic Team Members and Colour Artist Tina Memhi had added panels which Andy used as a guideline to create internal disconnection and structure within the shape which he fused with the disconnection to create texture and enhance the shape.
Jermey worked on a beautiful clean blonde shape to which Tina has added a subtle perimeter colour which was based on the Pantone Colour of the Year 2026 Cloud Dancer. Tina applied a gentle shadow to the edges which enhanced the graduation around the edges of the hairline.
During the presentation Andy explained to the audience Rush’s philosophy of Strength and Movement, how as a team they work in a very technical way, creating strong structured shapes which are fused with freer internal techniques to create texture and enhance the shape.
The catwalk models were brought back to the stage, and they were joined by Rush Artistic Team Member and Colour Artist Kirsty Judge who explained the colouring techniques she had used to enhance the silhouettes of the models looks. From bold reds and coppers to muted ashy tones each look was complimented and completed by exciting colour work.
Andy and Jeremy presented their finished looks – as Andy said,
“drying and styling the looks were easy as the cuts, enhanced by the colour did the work for them”.
Rush Editorial Director Tina Farey and Rush Artistic Team and Creative Colour Expert Sueng Ki Baek brought their models onto the stage. Avant Garde Hair was the theme for this section with Tina working on a look from a past collection entitled Paint on Hardware, where she has made pieces to create the shape and finished them using acrylic paint in bold colours. Whilst Tina worked on her model adding in pieces, Baek explained that his model was inspired by the Neo Futurism Collection.
Tina’s headpiece was added to the front of the model’s hair. A long ponytail was added through a hoop which had been placed in the model’s own hair and Tina preceded to create a larger-than-life shape as the ends were pin frizzed to give texture to the shape. Earrings made from mooring rings and hair with the same acrylic paint completed the look. Baek used a razor to create short layers to provide texture through the top and on the longer length to reveal a bold colour palate of gold, red, blue and green abstract lines throughout the length of the hair. The two models took to the stage to give the audience a complete 360 of the inspirational work created by these two creatives.
One final look at all the models showcased the breadth of work that the Rush Artistic Team created as part of L’Oreal Elevate – featuring the depth of the company’s philosophy, this was education at it’s finest.
Rush International Creative Director Andy Heasman, concluded,
“L’Oreal Elevate allowed us to present the Rush Philosophy of Strength and Movement in an exciting visual way, how it can be translated into cut, colour and styling to create hair that is exciting and innovative. We would like to thank L’Oreal China for staging this fabulous showcase and look forward to working with them again at future events.”
