Saks celebrates 40 years with action packed Lisbon franchise conference
The UK’s leading hair and beauty salon group treated its franchises and Saks Awards winners to a weekend in sunny Lisbon in celebration of Saks’ 40th anniversary.
With the elegant Tivoli Lisboa hotel playing base to a weekend of sightseeing and socialising, the trip’s main activity was an Apprentice-style challenge that saw over 70 Saks franchises, salon and HQ staff, and leading suppliers compete to impress the ‘Big Boss’ with pitches for bringing Portuguese products to the UK.
The ‘The Seven Deadly Sins’ team won over the judges with their idea to sell Portugal’s famous alcoholic beverages to a younger UK market, with members including head of Saks apprenticeships Tina Rook, Tanya Flynn from Saks Dundee, Paul Carrigan and Karen Williams from Saks Leeds, Jodie Brook and John Goddard from Saks Skipton, and Helen Gee of Towergate Insurance.
Stephen Kee, managing director at Saks, commented “Portugal was a perfect opportunity to show our new colleagues exactly what makes Saks special – they got a real flavour of what being part of our network brings. We also took our Saks Awards winners this time as it’s equally important to reward our superstars too.”
