The Fellowship runs Launch Yourself mentoring day for Project X students
The Fellowship’s Project X 2015 students recently spent an inspiring day gleaning advice on how to ensure their path to session styling success, with lessons on effective branding, etiquette, trend research and fundamental techniques delivered by the programme’s mentors and special guests.
As the second instalment of a year of mentoring days, the Launch Yourself workshop took place at ghd’s Soho studio space. Harriet Edgley kicked of the day by giving students insight into how to develop and promote their own brand, followed by more invaluable advice via a Q&A session with co-host Zoe Irwin and mentor Ashleight Hodges.
Ex-F.A.M.E. Team member, Leighanne Regan, then joined Irwin to demonstrate key session styling techniques, with emphasis on the importance of research, client care and creative language.
Post-lunch, the students were given time to put what they’d learned into practice, before presenting their moodboards and new skills to mentors.
Project X student, Polly Parratt from Toni & Guy, said of the day: “I loved Harriet’s ten easy steps to branding myself, it was really simple and so motivating.
She added: “I’ll take so much away from the day, but one of the main things is Zoe pushing for us to be true professionals and experts in everything we do – backstage and with our clients.”
Hodges commented: “Hopefully after their first two sessions the team feel fully prepared to take advantage of the their new Project X year and ready to launch themselves as rising stars!”
Next month the Project X students will attend a mentoring workshop with Rush’s Isabella Hyde, where they’ll prep and plan for their first shoot.
