The January issue has landed!

Well, we made it! 2020 is done and dusted and what a year it’s been! From all of us at The Salon Magazine we wish you all a very happy and healthy new year and pray it won’t be as turbulent as the last one.

Firstly… What a way to kick off a new year with this incredible cover?! The lovely team at SimplyHair took the reins and ran with the wind on this one, but of course, just our luck that Boris Johnson decided to announce a national lockdown to start on the day the shoot was scheduled. Thanks BoJo! Like the troopers they are, the team were able to act fast and shuffle things around to make the shoot happen the day before lockdown and wow, wow, wow – hats off! We caught up with the Marketing Coordinator, Beth, in our cover story as she reveals how they made it happen and the inspiration behind the looks. So that you didn’t miss out on a thing, we’ve got a full page of behind the scenes action, celebrating true hair greatness!

As always, along with all of our regular and much-loved features we have a few extras which includes ‘The Sustainable Solution’. January is the perfect time for new beginnings and perhaps trying something different. This feature explores the importance of sustainability in salons and how it can benefit a business. Some of the industry’s experts answer questions such as why they think sustainable salons are growing in popularity, which changes can be made as a step in the right direction to a greener business and how salons should be letting people know that they are ‘sustainable’ in order to drum up business.

Although as I just said, January is a great time to introduce new ways into your business, something which is going to be staying the same is the importance of hygiene in salons.
With a spotlight on cleanliness within the hair and beauty industry following the Coronavirus pandemic, it may be self-explanatory what needs to be upheld to ensure optimum hygiene, but with lots going on at the moment it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by it all. Our experts explain the methods in maintaining excellent salon hygiene, how you can ensure staff members are on top of the cleaning routine, and the effects this could have on a business.

Now, hopefully this year I will get to finally see some of your lovely faces again! Fingers crossed it won’t be too long, but in the meantime – enjoy our brand-new issue, and have a happy and healthy 2021.
