Top Style team on board for The X Factor

The X Factor has a brand new style team on board for 2012, bringing together the best in the business to create the trend setting looks for this year’s finalists. Jamie Stevens, Julia Carta and Frank Strachan are three of the most exciting talents in hair, make-up and styling and they will be working with the finalists from next week (week beginning 1 October).

Jamie Stevens is an Award-winning hairdresser and owner of two salons, a TV personality and British Hairdresser of the Year 2012 nominee. Jamie is the go-to hairdresser for Kylie Minogue, Elle Macpherson, Eva Herzigova and Myleene Klass, plus Christian Slater, Gok Wan and Hugh Grant, whilst being the hairdresser of choice on shows including This Morning, Gok’s Fashion Fix and How to Look Good Naked, cementing his status as one of the UK’s most sought-after stylists. A keen eye for trends has seen Jamie work backstage at Fashion Week and makes him a go-to hair guru amongst beauty editors for expert advice, makeovers and shoots, whilst his creative vision and technical skill has earned him ambassadorial roles for global brands.

Jamie says: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be back for a second year as the official X Factor hair stylist. I’m really looking forward to working with the contestants and producing some amazing new hairstyles.”

Julia Carta is an international celebrity makeup artist and is renowned as one of the best in her field in the World of TV film and entertainment. Her CV reads like a Who’s Who of some of the most celebrated and sought after celebrity royalty including Britney Spears, Sharon Stone, Bruce Willis, Kiera Knightly, Colin Firth, Dame Judi Dench and Sir Michael Caine. Julia is regularly being booked to groom some of the world’s most high profile men, Ben Affleck, Denzel Washington, Orlando Bloom, Ralph Fiennes, Daniel Craig and Colin Farrell. Julia is currently Simon Cowell’s make up artist in the UK and has been working with him for almost a decade. With regular credits in the TV and entertainment industry she is considered one of the best HD makeup experts in the country, and is a permanent fixture on award winning shows The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.

Julia adds: “I’m delighted to be chosen as the lead make-up artist working alongside the contestants on the new series of The X Factor. I will be creating some incredible looks for the contestants, so watch this face!”

Frank Strachan career highlights to date include working along side artists such as The Pet Shop Boys, Jamelia and Girls Aloud (for whom he notably worked with on their well renowned ‘The Promise’ video and biography cover). Frank has also worked personally with Cheryl Cole on her first solo record artwork and furthermore on her X Factor Judging Panel wardrobe in 2009.

Tours and performance is an area where Frank excels. Most notably styling the JLS 2012 tour, JLS Summer Gigs, Britney Spears Circus Tour and performances by Nicole Scherzinger, Alexandra Burke, Westlife and Katie Melua.

Frank continues to work with chart topping British girl band ‘The Saturdays’ where he styled the videos for ‘Up’, ’30 Days’, ‘Notorious’, ‘All Fired Up’ and also the Headlines and All Fired Up 2011 arena tours, alongside all TV appearances and personal wardrobe.

Frank says “I’m so excited to take on this year’s X Factor styling, with such a brilliantly diverse group of contestants. The most rewarding part of my career is working on live performances, and The X Factor feels like putting together a new tour every single week.”
