Wella Professionals has announced the group of six up-and-coming hairdressers that have been chosen to become part of the new Generation Now team for 2014/15.
Launched four years ago, Generation Now provides a unique platform for inspirational new talent to make its mark in the world of hairdressing.
This year’s crop is made up of Matthew Feeney of Dublin’s Aviary Lane Salon, James Earnshaw from the Francesco Group, Birmingham, Paul Paterson from Edinburgh’s Ishi Salon, Rob Czlapka of RCNQ, Manchester, Emma Wainwright from Chester’s Soul Hair, and Callum Standen of The Egg, Norfolk.
The rigorous audition process saw entrants put through their paces in front of a panel of judges from Wella Professionals, with guest judges from the industry including, Philip Bell, Ishoka, Gareth Vance, Sassoon and Colin McAndrew from Medusa Hairdressing.
Previous Generation Now Team member, Simon Tuckwell of Zullo & Holland, commented: “Generation Now Team has been such a vital part of my career. It’s enabled me to step out of the salon and work with other hugely talented individuals. The mentoring programme has been incredible working with some of the industry’s biggest names. I’ll never forget the experience.”
The new group of budding stars will experience the chance to work with and be inspired by numerous iconic hairdressers over the next year, as well as receive media training, product knowledge and presentation skills.
The team will also be involved with a busy schedule of exciting events and activities organised by Wella Professionals to help them gain an invaluable insight into what it takes to work at the top echelons of the industry, such as taking part in the Wella Professionals TrendVision Award UK & Ireland Final, featuring on the Fellowship Stage at Salon International and taking part in an Evening of Future Talent at the Wella World Studio London.
