Multi Award-Winning Stylist Chris Grimley is Leading the Way For Positive Change in British Hairdressing
Multi Award Winning Hair Expert Chris Grimley is reshaping the landscape of textured hairdressing in the UK. As the founder of Fusion Hair Co. and Textured Curl Academy, Chris is using her expertise to create a more inclusive and accessible approach to working with textured hair.
As a textured hair specialist, and salon owner with a wealth of experience within the industry and years of working on high-profile fashion events, including styling for Naomi Campbell’s London Fashion Week show in 2019, Chris has a clear mission: to share her knowledge with the next generation of stylists. In 2024, she launched Textured Curl Academy, a space designed to offer specialised education for stylists on how to cut and style textured hair while also understanding its cultural significance and the unique needs of textured hair clients.
Chris is determined to change the conversation around textured hair, ensuring that stylists across the UK are confident and educated when it comes to caring for textured hair. Through her work, she hopes to make textured hairdressing a standard part of salon services, eliminating the need for clients to wonder if their hair will be properly handled. “There is a real need in the industry for stylists to not only learn the technical skills of cutting and styling textured hair but to understand the cultural importance and nuances that come with it. My goal is to make textured hairdressing a standard service, not a specialist one. No client should ever have to worry about whether or not their hair will be properly taken care of,” says Chris Grimley.
Chris’s commitment to inclusivity and education is also exemplified by her multi-award-winning salon, Fusion Hair Co. The salon has received accolades for Best Salon, Best Colour Salon, and Best Texture Salon. Additionally, Chris was honoured as Texture Stylist of the Year in 2023 and is nominated for this award again this year, an achievement that recognises her exceptional work with curly, coily, and wavy hair.
Earlier this month, Chris joined the acclaimed How to Cut It platform, where she showcased simple and effective styling techniques for textured hair. In this live session, Chris offered invaluable insights into styling curly and coily hair, demonstrating techniques that can be easily incorporated into any stylist’s repertoire. Building on her successful online presence, Chris will host an exclusive in-person event on March 9th at Fusion Hair Co., from 1 pm to 4:30 pm.
