SpargoLand hosts annual charity ball

Hairdressing charity SpargoLand recently held its annual charity ball at Orsett Hall in Orsett, Essex, to raise money for the UK’s first hair salon designed for people with learning and physical difficulties, as well as for Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Caroline Inches Oscar Griffiths appeal.

Ian Marshall, owner of Brentwood salon Spargo Hairdressing and founder of the SpargoLand charity, organised the charity’s second ball following the success of last year’s inaugural event. Friends, family, local businesses and famous faces such as football legends Teddy Sherringham and Paul Konchesky enjoyed entertainment, a raffle and a silent auction with generous donations on the night amounting to an incredible total of over £15,000.

Money raised on the night will go towards the enw non-profit Spargoland salon catering for children and adults with learning, physical and additional needs. From a sensory waiting area to independent booths that will act as self-contained salons, the salon will offer nail and haircuts to those who can find these simple experiences challenging. Money was also raised on the night for the Caroline Inches Oscar Griffiths appeal. Oscar Griffiths is Marshall’s two-year old nephew who suffers from severe quadriplegic cerebral palsy, and is one of the main inspirations behind the SpargoLand charity.

“The night was more amazing than we could ever have imagined,” said Marshall. “It was incredibly emotional and to be honest, I almost broke down during my speech! We are so grateful for all of the support from both the local and national companies who helped us so much, as well as the support from the community around us to make the night a success. Without them, we’d never be able to succeed in helping the people that really deserve it.”
