The latest brow revelation
As brow lamination continues to take the UK by storm, HIVE of Beauty’s Marketing Manager David Sneddon reveals why the craze is upon us and the impact it could have on your business.
There is a combination of factors as to why brow lamination has suddenly become so popular – the results look fantastic and are immediately obvious, so it has grabbed the industry’s attention, helped also by being proudly put on display all over Instagram. It is an affordable treatment and as eyebrows frame the client’s face and highlight their best features, big improvements can be made for a small outlay.
Brow lamination has a number of advantages over treatments such as microblading, feathering or shading. The full treatment can usually be done in less than 30 minutes without any discomfort to the client. It does not require any deposit of pigment into or incisions of the skin compared to microblading or feathering.
With results lasting for up to 6 – 8 weeks, brow lamination proves to be exceptional value usually costing between £40 -£100, compared to the mentioned alternatives which can rise into several hundreds of pounds.
Introducing brow lamination into your salon’s treatment offering can be done with relative ease and can provide a welcome boost to a beauty business’ revenue.
Firstly, ensuring that your customers have access to one of the most searched, posted and hashtagged beauty treatments of the moment will install confidence in your existing client base that you continually improve the service offered as well as your product and treatment knowledge, ensuring there is no need for them to look elsewhere. This keeps you ahead of local competitors and attracting potential customers to your salon.
Secondly, it is not just about introducing a completely separate new treatment, it creates the possibilities of an “add-on” for clients who are looking to have eyelash or eyebrow tinting, lash lift or make-up treatments.
The brow lamination procedure is relatively simple but does require skill, knowledge and judgement. It is vitally important regardless of experience with other techniques, that training is undertaken.
Having conducted a patch test and studying the client’s hair to check the type of hair, condition, etc., the hair should have Bonding Serum applied be brushed into the desired shape and direction with a mascara brush. A thin coat of HIVE® Dual Lifting Crème is then applied to the brow hair, close to the roots if you want the hair to be set in the right direction after procedure, or to the entire hair if you want to soften thick hair and straighten curly strands. HIVE® Dual Lifting Crème weakens the disulphide bonds in each hair allowing them to be re-shaped.
After the appropriate processing time depending on the thickness and density of the hair, the Dual Lifting Crème is removed and a small amount of HIVE® Dual Treatment Lotion is applied to the same areas a micro-applicator. Dual Treatment Lotion maintains, fixes and holds while restoring the disulphide bonds in the expertly crafted new shape. At this stage it is optional to tint the brow also.
The final stage uses HIVE® Dual Conditioning Serum which moisturises and conditions the hair, removing any residue for a fantastic finish.
Clients don’t need to have a particular type of hair to enjoy the benefits of brow lamination, as the process will enhance what is naturally there. Clients with thick, unruly hair can have their eyebrows tamed into a beautiful and complimentary shape with the “fluffy” look without having the daily maintenance of brushing or applying brow gel. Whereas, those with finer or lighter hair can have their brow shaped to cover sparse areas, creating the illusion of fuller eyebrows.
