We need you to support the #MakeItBlue campaign to salute the NHS

Professionals from the world of hair and beauty have pledged to keep the nation’s gratitude and support for the NHS flowing with a campaign to #MakeItBlue and we are asking you to do the same.

This follows the success of the #LightItBlue activation on March 26, when more than 100 of the UK’s iconic venues were lit-up in blue to coincide with the UK-wide round of applause for the NHS and frontline care workers.

Individuals within the hair and beauty sector are now being encouraged to spread the positivity by creating blue-themed images, videos and messages at home, and sharing them on social media channels using the #MakeItBlue hashtag – and to nominate friends and family to get involved too.

As of today, we have changed the colour of our logo to blue in honour of our NHS heroes to show our thanks and respect to the phenomenal work they are doing currently, and will continue with this until the pandemic has passed.

The Advanced Pro Salon Team have also already been involved in the movement as they changed the lights at the Advanced House HQ to blue in tribute to our amazing NHS staff, so when people drive past they know that the team commend the work they’re doing. A small gesture like this is exactly what we are looking for as it really does go a long way.

The campaign was launched by Gary White, managing director of White Productions, and freelance production manager Chuck Crampton together with a group of industry friends and colleagues.

White said: “As an industry known for its creativity, we can harness our skills to send thanks to the NHS – via video, photo and music. And we can use our network of contacts to help cascade that message further.

“The only rule is to make it blue. This could mean anything from putting together a blue-themed playlist, painting a blue picture or swapping your usual team colour for blue. We’re asking everyone to upload content to social channels adding the #MakeItBlue hashtag and then nominate friends and family to get involved too.”

The #MakeItBlue challenge has already been taken up by members of the sporting and entertainment communities.  Music legends Liam Gallagher, Toyah Wilcox, Robert Fripp and all three British Superbike brothers: Andrew, Glenn and Graeme Irwin were among the first celebrities to agree to #MakeItBlue from their homes. Olympic skier Chemmy Alcott and 1917 star George Mackay have already posted videos on their social channels.

“We’ve heard via friends working in hospitals and healthcare centres that the nation’s show of thanks last week was hugely appreciated. We believe that together we can amplify that great wave of appreciation to continue throughout the weeks ahead.” Explained Crampton.

Let’s do this together and #MakeItBlue – don’t forget to tag us in your blue brilliance on Instagram @TheSalonMagUK.
