Where to Glow – The New Directory and Hub for Trusted and Verified Hair & Beauty Businesses
‘Where to Glow’ aim is to ensure businesses that are offering hair, beauty and non-surgical aesthetic treatments can ensure the upmost safety to their clients. Treatments are becoming more invasive, therefore causing higher risk with the use of chemicals and needlework especially. Within an unregulated sector we need to provide accountability for the treatments provided and a guarantee for the customer that they are being treated by someone with the correct knowledge, skills, qualifications and insurance.
The human-powered directory will list registered businesses with a flawless reputation, enabling customers to source qualified, trusted and verified practitioners and salons to carry out health and beauty treatments.
Where to Glow is the brainchild of Jessica and Chloe, who came up with the idea for the platform off the back of their own personal experiences when it came to searching for desired treatments. Chloe, Founder and Director of Whereto Glow, explains: “Being busy working mums, we found the task of searching for a treatment more stressful than it should be. Fear of using an unknown booking site raised our concerns of salons not holding necessary qualifications or documents to provide the standard that we expected”.
In addition to the directory, the platform will provide a hub for members to discuss concerns, gain support, share advice and build morale following a catastrophic period for the hair and beauty industry since the start of the pandemic. Members are invited to attend a monthly online networking event, designed to improve and grow their business.
Co-Founder of the platform, Jessica adds: “Throughout the process of building Where to Glow, hair and beauty businesses told us how difficult it was to network with those within their industry, along with a lack of morale. We feel that building a beauty directory and networking page, where all can go to for support, will build a community that is much needed.” The integrity of members’ businesses will be protected through the platform’s reviewing system. All feedback will be investigated by a review management team and any negative comments or discrepancies will be dealt with independently. A criterion of standards will be visible on the website to ensure the reputation of the industry is maintained.
To show outstanding services to the industry, Where to Glow will present yearly award events and distribute monthly ‘glow’ awards. These awards will be featured at the top of the platform’s search engine, providing businesses with more exposure and consumer users with reassurance of the accredited status the platform provides.
Rebecca Pierce, an independent beauty business owner and a member of Where to Glow’s development focus groups comments: “I feel I am losing customers to unqualified people and constantly having to rectify work they have completed, all of this with no repercussions. This platform will go a long way to ending poor practice and inadequate standards, and I’m delighted to have been asked to play a part in its development.”
The www.wheretoglow.co.uk online platform will be launched to the public May 2022, with plans to launch a mobile app at a later date.
