Davines, sustainable, professional hair care brand with an international presence in more than 90 countries will open their own House & Academy in January 2023, based in Kings Cross, central London. With a square footage of over 4,600, the design was crafted by interior designer Melody Weir, who also launched the designs for Davines Group House & Academy Williamsburg, Brooklyn – New York.

Founded in Parma, Italy in 1983 by the Bollati Family, the Davines Group started as a research laboratory, formulating high-end beauty products for cosmetic companies worldwide. After a decade of honing its expertise, the group created its own brand called Davines, specialising in professional hair care and colour.

Since the brand launched in the UK over 15 years ago, Davines has partnered with Ena salon, to train thousands of hairdressers across a diverse menu of educational courses. Over the past few years, the brand has grown tremendously and there is now a need for a bigger training facility in order to be able to host even more training courses and workshops to spread the expertise and sustainability message even further.

Global General Manager and Director of Davines, Mark Giannandrea says; “Globally we see the UK Professional Hairdressing market as strategically important because of the quality of the hairdressing in the UK and how the rest of the world look to British hairdressing for trends, quality and creativity.”

Also speaking to General Manager of Davines UK & Ireland, Matt Martin shared Community is at the heart of who we are as Davines, and the building of our new House and Academy in London creates a home for our people and our partners. It is a space that brings to life the purpose and culture of our company, designed to have a positive impact for all that visit us. The location of our House was key, being in the heart of the city and enabling us to welcome customers from all over the UK and Republic of Ireland. Our purpose-built Academy will enable us to train more hairdressers than ever before, alongside our portfolio of courses available through our regional academy partners. We’re incredibly excited to be opening our home and start writing the next chapter for Davines in the UK and Republic of Ireland.

Aesthetically, the space stands out from the crowd with over 30,000 individual plants across the site, with several hundred different species. Bringing to life the brand’s DNA and sustainability ethos, a living plant wall has been carefully crafted made up of a mixture of monsteras, pothos, philodendrons, prayer plans and assorted asplenium ferns. Alongside nature throughout, all timber within the space are made from recyclable materials, cushion covers made from reused plastic bottles and curtains used are made from sustainably sourced fabrics. Finally, an intelligent daylighting system has been installed which automatically adjusts light levels based on the external conditions, promoting each employee’s wellbeing.

From January 2023, Davines will open its doors to their brand-new space in Kings Cross, with many opportunities available for the professional hairdressing industry to partake in courses ranging from colour to collections.
